Dora Ohrenstein’s newest book, Creating Crochet Fabric: Experimenting with Hook, Yarn & Stitch, published by Lark Books in January 2010, is an in-depth exploration of techniques for the modern crocheter.

Dora first began crocheting during the Age of Aquarius, that is, around 1971, while living on a houseboat in Amsterdam. She then put crochet aside to pursue a career as a singer for the next 30 years, enjoying considerable success in classical music, touring all over the globe and making many recordings.

In the summer of 2003 the hook called to her again, and Dora began designing crochet fashions, first for herself, and subsequently for publication. Her designs have been shown in Interweave Crochet, knit.1, Knit Simple, Crochet Today, and in several Sterling and Lark books.
